About
Hello and thank you for visiting my site! My name is Whitney Shimoi and I am a professional plush toy artist. I create and design plushies for collectors, children, and companies with a discerning eye for quality and detail. I am the sole proprietor of my home based business and love every minute of the work involved (except for maybe the taxes)!
I have been a collector of plushies since I was a child, and began creating my own at age 7 when I couldn't find exactly what I wanted in stores. My love of plushies developed into an adoration for fabric and textures, and you will notice I like to combine many different fabrics into one plushie. Always experimenting with new techniques and patterns, I like to take my plush work beyond the typical "stuffed animal" and turn it into a real one of a kind work of art.
Since graduating from the Herron School of Art and Design in Indiana where I received my BFA, I have spent 100% of my time solely dedicated to my business and my creative work. Some days are a challenge, and the artist's life is not easy, but I would walk this same path every time and wouldn't change a thing!
I love meeting new people with new ideas, so feel free to contact me anytime even if just to say hi!
