Part of a "Zobobear" commission I'm working on. It will be a purple fox!
This one is fresh off the crafting table finished! Just waiting for all those markings and paws to dry before getting proper photos. Just a glimpse into my process when I need to create a new pattern. It often starts with paper and tape, then moves onto this step where I test by trial and error in some junky cheap fabric. Once things are looking pretty good, I start the real thing. Top photo shows work on a Zorua Pokemon. Bottom photo is a sitting male pony pattern. Just heard something like this on a quilting show: "You should not be trying to make your art perfect, rather you should be discovering through the creative process that you already are good enough." I loved it and found it very inspirational :) I think a lot of times as artists it is very easy for us to overthink all the details and constantly compare ourselves with the competition. But if we just stop and be who we are, drawing from our own unique set of life experiences, then we will create something perfectly imperfect and totally one of a kind. What message do you get from it? Three fluffy wolves for a commissioner :) They will still require trimming and their "make-up" as my husband calls the process of adding artist marker. And of course bodies. Can't just have decapitated heads rolling about saying "oi oi oi" (Spirited Away reference). Piles of fluff and exploded Kiraras everywhere! Oh the horror and cuteness! These will all be done in a few days and off to their new homes :) I have a tendency toward starting numerous projects at once, and not finishing them all up until much, much later. Sometimes I feel like my mind is bursting with ideas and I have to at least start on them! So I came up with The Bin of Unfinished Projects™ - I allow myself to start and NOT finish as many projects as I want until this bin fills up, at which point I must finish one of the old ones before I start something new :) Working so far! A lot of times I'll end up weeding through old projects that I'll later deem as "horrible and how on earth did I ever think this was a good idea" which leaves the really golden ideas left for completion <3
Anyone else have problems with idea explosion? Please pardon my construction dust around here! I've been working on creating a more professional looking website for my plushie business. All things should be up and running soon! In the meantime, feel free to browse my work and get in touch with me via any of the methods on my Contact page, or in the upper right hand corner of this site. Thank you for visiting!
